DescriptionPickwick Theater- Orange County’s first movie theater. Owned and operated by Samuel J. Brockwell. Silent movies originally played with accompanying organ until talking movies were shown in 1929/1930. Mable Hill- organist. Fire in 1924. By the early 1920s, W. S. Roberson was the proprietor of the theater and L. J. Phipps was the manager. Theater closed in 1931 due to a lack of business during the Great Depression. Carolina Theater opened around the same time and may have took away business.
